NOTD: Barry M Gelly in Green Berry

This is how my nails look today after my friends Becky and Jeni adorned me with belated birthday gifts last night, this nail paint being one of many lovely things they got me. They're not the neatest (sorry! I promise I'll tidy them up before I go out tonight!) but I love the "hi-shine" finish and they feel like they're going to be much more durable than usual Barry M nail paints which I find a little thin. The colour is true to what you see in the bottle after two coats although some nails had to have three as with most pastel nail polishes, it can be a little streaky to apply.
UPDATE: These survived a night out with only one tiny chip (no top coat) which is not something I'm used to with Barry M to be honest, rather impressed!

On a slightly unrelated note, here's a picture of my new little rubber
duck friend in my bath this morning which also featured a
Lush bubble bar slice called "Pop in the Bath"
which was well, lush... (also gifts from last night) :)

OOTD: TOPSHOP Parka

Happy Sunday! As I said in the last post it was recently my birthday so my Mom took me shopping. I wanted a jacket which I could just throw on as I was a bit fed up of my coat and pleather jacket but it's still far too cold to only wear a blazer/jumper (it's been such a long winter!). She immediately took me to the Barbour shop as she is quite a fan of theirs but there were none in the right colour/style/size combination that I wanted so we left empty handed and headed to other shops.

I ended up with this lovely parka from Topshop which feels very durable which is good as I feel is going to be getting a lot of wears! It has a no fuss zip (and poppers if you can be bothered to do those up!) and big pockets which are great for every day wear and the hood is also a personal bonus as it's my only thing with a hood really. I'll be wearing this tomorrow when I go for dinner with my friends and to just about everything else casual, what do you think?

PS I also got that bargain watch from the Fossil outlet and I'm truly in love with it!

Perfume Post: Katy Perry Purr

I am back after my birthday with a new camera after my old one finally decided to give up, thank goodness! Now I can post much prettier pictures.

Katy Perry - Purr

I thought I would review a perfume today as I always have a few on the go; I decided to start with Purr by Katy Perry which has been a favourite of mine for a while (as you can see the bottle is nearing empty, wah!), I'm a sucker for celebrity perfumes!

The scent of this is really wearable, its also described as "sexy" but I don't feel its inappropriate for a day time fragrance at all. The scent is floral and fruity at the same time so I think it would suit most people. Plus, the bottle looks great on my dressing table, need I say more?

Review: Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial

This is something I have been waiting to try since I heard of it (hasn't everyone?!). I ordered Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial from Boots when I got my friend, Jeni, a couple in other colours for her birthday and I love it so far and so does Jeni.

I have to say that this lip lacquer  is SO not what I had expected after reading other blogs, it's better. They're really pigmented and the colour goes on so smoothly. My hair got stuck in it a few times whilst I walked to my friend's wearing it but it was nothing compared to how things are when wearing a traditional, sticky lip gloss and it feels totally non-stick on your lips themselves. I didn't find it had much staying power as it was easy to wipe off when doing pretty much anything but in terms of looking pretty and easy application it ticks every box. It also has a smell which reminds me of opening my Mom's makeup drawer when I was a kid which can't be complained about.

PS, here is a sneak preview of the e.l.f stuff that I will be reviewing in the next few posts.

NOTD: L'Oreal Color Riche Nails in Mythic Carpet

THREE coats of Mythic Carpet (two was still a bit see through for my liking)! - £4.99 in Boots
Just a quick Nails of The Day post (or nails of the week in my case!) as I am just painting my nails in preparation for a friend's birthday meal. I haven't painted my nails for about a week and decided upon L'Oreal Color Riche Nails in Mythic Carpet which is a colour I picked up a couple of months ago in Boots.
I really love the Color Riche line as all of the colours seem so well chosen and they have such lovely names like "Opera Ballerina" and "Ingenious Rose". This one is a vibrant reddish pink with a bit of a shimmer. The brush of this range is so precise the formula goes on like a dream, if only all polishes were like this. The only downside is that you definitely need two coats and maybe more with the sheerer colours which is not so good when they come in such a tiny bottle (5ml compared with the average 10+); I found that out the hard way after using almost half a bottle of "French Riviera" in one go.

Hope you like it!

Ps. After painting my nails and writing all of this, I realised that I'm going to have to remove my nail polish tonight for work experience in the morning :(

My Favourite: Mascara

Today I thought I'd write you a post about the single beauty product I'd choose if I were only allowed one for the rest of my life. Mascara. For the past year or two my favourite has been L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes; I'm currently using the Excess version but any of them will do me just fine.

My eye before mascara (picture is quite creepy!)
My eye after a quick application of L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Excess

I think you can see a huge difference. I agree that the result is a little imperfect however I wanted to show what it looked like after an application which literally took less than ten seconds (reality) rather than an application where I had spent five minutes being picky and trying to get a perfect picture. I never notice any flaky bits around my eyes like with some other mascaras and it lasts for a fair amount of time compared to others.

I tell everyone who asks about this because I have tried so many mascaras, as most people have and I will always go back to this. I even use its brush to comb through my lashes if I do use a different mascara for whatever reason.

In other news, I have just ordered a fair bit of stuff from e.l.f. because they have a 48% offer so expect me to be talking about that here once it has arrived!
